How to Join

The SAR is a "lineage" society. This means that each member has traced their family tree back to a point of having an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783. The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution has dedicated an entire section of their website to explaining how to join, qualifications for membership, and associated forms. You can visit that portion of their website directly by clicking HERE.

Once you have reviewed the membership guidelines, the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution will be happy to assist you with any membership questions or concerns. You can contact our current State registrar at this address. Or, you can visit our Chapter listing and email the leadership of a chapter in your geographic region for further information.

For your convenience, a blank SAR application form can be found HERE. Please keep in mind that only an authorized SAR member can approve submission of an application.
